History of the Centre
Kilworth Children's Centre was originally conceived as a commercial entity under private ownership and opened in 1989 as Hobby Horse Daycare.
On June 1, 1991, operating control of the centre was assumed by volunteer Board of Directors comprised of members of the Parent Association and Community Representatives. It was at this time that the centre took the name Tiggir's Tots Daycare and became a non-profit organization.
In the fall of 2012, the centre decided to change the name and hence Kilworth Children's Centre was born.
Method of Operation
Kilworth Children's Centre is a non-profit organization that is governed by a Board of Directors. We are licensed annually under the Ministry of Education and follow the requirements set forth by the Childcare Early Years Act 2014.
Our Board of Directors, who are comprised primarily of parents and community members, meet monthly and hold an Annual General Meeting each spring.
All families are required to attend the AGM each year.
We recognize that parents are the constant in a child's life and we encourage our families to be involved in their child's experiences at the centre.
Communication with your classroom educator on a regular basis is very important. Calendars, newsletters, information boards, and this website act as a wonderful communication tool that we hope you will familiarize yourself with.
Throughout the year, the centre holds Family Events and takes part in field trips and learning experiences. We encourage and always welcome volunteers and families for these events.
Upon registration, families are required to read the centre's policies and sign and complete a Registration Package before their child starts care.
